Item options let you add customizable fields to your products, giving customers choices without creating separate SKUs for each variation. For example, instead of creating 10 different SKUs for a shirt in 10 different sizes, you can create one product with a "Size" item option.
Common Use Cases
Colors: Red, Blue, Green, etc.
Sizes: Small, Medium, Large, XL
Materials: Cotton, Polyester, Silk
Custom text fields: Personalization or special instructions
Any other product variations your business needs
Creating Item Options
Access Item Options
Navigate to your CatalogItems view
In the action bar, click the Item Options button
The Item Options sidebar will open
Add a New Item Option
Click the + Add Item Option button
Fill out the item option details:
Name: Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Size", "Color")
Type: Choose the field type (dropdown, radio buttons, text input, etc.)
Options: For dropdowns or radio buttons, click the gray + button to add each option value
Toggle Required if customers must select this option before adding the item to their order
Save your changes
For a dropdown or radio options, you click on the gray '+' button to add additional item options.Add Item Options To Catalog ItemsOnce you've created your item options, you can assign them to specific catalog items.
Steps:
From the Catalog Items screen, click the pencil icon next to the item you want to edit
In the Edit Item sidebar, scroll down to the Item Options section
Use the text input to search for the item option by name
Select the option and click Add
Repeat for any additional item options needed
Click Save at the bottom of the sidebar
The catalog item will now display those item options when customers place orders, allowing them to customize their selections.
Tips
Create item options before assigning them to products
Use clear, customer-friendly names for options
Mark item options as "Required" only when necessary
Group related options together (e.g., all size-related options in one item option field)
